I've been given a wonderful opportunity to showcase a selection of original art as a solo show. Thanks to Shorelake Arts, who is partnering with Ridgecrest Public House, for providing a space in Shoreline for local artists to get their work out there in front of the public. This space at RPH is a comfy and intimate local pub that has been providing a warm and inviting venue to local artists to show their work for the past several years. Shorelake Arts has been a significant part of the art community for the past 30 years. I am honored to be showing my range of work for the next several weeks. I have shown work at local galleries in juried shows for the past 10 years; having this solo show is my first experience to share so much of my recent work.
I have focused a lot on colored pencil art depicting natural science illustration subjects such as flora and fauna, insects and sea life. Recently I have explored watercolor and gouache, finding ways to show not only the subject but the habitat and environment that a subject thrives in. I have also started learning block printing and have begun to work on some monochromatic pieces such as birds and botanicals.
My art has been a priority for me most of my life. I find that expressing myself through art is something that is beyond words or thought; it is the essence of seeing and creating, observing and being - it is a way to express the pictures in my mind and the visual beauty that I see in the natural world.
The solo show runs from October 4th through December 2nd at Ridgecrest Public House, 520 NE 165th St, Shoreline 98155. They are open 3-11 every day.
Thank you to Laura at Shorelake Arts and Megan at Ridgecrest Public House for this opportunity and for their kindness and support.
